Bellarine Rail Trail Run – August 19 2012
17 or 34 km run for the exercise enthusiasts

The 9th Bellarine Rail Trail Run (17 or 34kms) will be held on Sunday August 19, 2012 as an out and back course from Queenscliff to Drysdale Railway Station and return (34km) or one-way Drysdale to Queenscliff (17km) along the BRT. The trail is tremendously scenic and ideal for running being wide, well marked and all on smooth, unsealed paths aside from the 4.5kms at the Queenscliff end (sealed). More information on the BRT can be found here and here. 292 runners took part in 2011 with many using the event as an ideal training run for the Melbourne Marathon events 8 weeks later.

This event is based upon the original FatAss concept of no entry fee, no help, no support, no assistance and No Wimps. However, over the years the run has moved well away from this concept having marshals, aid stations & distance markers each 5kms. Aid stations will be at approx 6, 10, 17, 24 & 28kms.

The course is relatively traffic free, but you do have to cross some major roads & the railway line, so please take care. The course is also open to the general public and it is important that their use is not affected by the event. For this reason and in FatAss tradition, this is NOT A RACE – there are no prizes for finishing first!
